Next-Generation Acadia Redesign & New Trim Levels
The 2024 GMC Acadia is setting the new standard for SUVs. With its release date announced, SUV owners can look forward to new trims, configurations, advanced tech systems, and more. Explore the latest Acadia innovation, how it compares to the 2023 generation, and what you can expect in future redesigns.
2024 GMC Acadia Release Date
The new 2024 GMC Acadia has a release date scheduled for early 2024 with four new trim levels. Production is scheduled to begin in January 2024 at GMC’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly in Michigan. You can expect the upcoming Acadia generation to go on sale within the first few months of the new year.
2024 GMC Acadia Redesign Changes: What’s New vs. 2023?
One of the key highlights of the 2024 GMC Acadia redesign is its expanded size. Compared to the 2023 models, the 2024 generation will have 24% more max cargo room, a larger interior cabin, and three seating rows for up to eight passengers.
All 2024 models will now have a standard panoramic sunroof previously limited to specific 2023 trims and first-time Super Cruise™ hands-free driver assistance technology. The interior design has additional cubby storage and replaced the shifter button panel with a column-mounted shifter.
Its powertrain with AWD is standard since every Acadia has the same one, with FWD also offered. An 11″ digital gauge cluster, 15″ touchscreen infotainment system, and 12-speaker Bose stereo system will also remain standard. Additional features you can expect to see again include:
- Standard 4WD in all trims
- Eight-speed automatic transmission
- 15 standard safety and driver-assistance systems
2024 GMC Acadia Price & Configurations
While official 2024 GMC Acadia pricing hasn’t been released yet, starting MSRPs will likely increase a few thousand dollars from the 2023 GMC Acadia due to its redesign, significant size expansion, and upgraded smart technology.

Estimated starting prices for the new 2024 GMC Acadia trims are:
2024 GMC Acadia Elevation
- $39,000 Starting MSRP. Vehicle size is 10.6″ longer, 4.2″ wider, and 3.2″ taller compared to the 2023 Acadia SLE. It also has an 8.4″ longer wheelbase.
2024 GMC Acadia Elevation Premium
- $43,000 Starting MSRP. Compared to the Elevation, the Premium trim offers second-row flat-folding captain chairs with Smart Slide.
2024 GMC Acadia AT4
- $45,000 Starting MSRP. Off-road-tuned suspension, exclusive dark-accented exterior and interior designs, and 18″ all-terrain tires.
2024 GMC Acadia Denali
- $52,000 Starting MSRP. Exclusive exterior design, premium leather seating, and 22″ wheels-the largest ever offered on the GMC Acadia!
We expect the most affordable and expensive 2024 GMC Acadia trim levels will be the same in 2023-with the Elevation (formerly, the 2023 Acadia SLE) at the lowest and Denali at the highest.
2024 GMC Acadia Elevation
The 2024 GMC Acadia Elevation has a starting MSRP of $39,000, with significant changes from the 2023 SLE. As mentioned above, its exterior dimensions expanded all around with both seven and eight-passenger seating options. The Elevation also has an exclusive Black Edition that isn’t available in other 2024 trims.
As mentioned earlier, the 2024 Acadia Elevation increased in proportion compared to the 2023 Acadia SLE. Its wheelbase is 8.4″ longer, 10.6″ bigger in length, 4.2″ wider, and 3.2″ higher. Last year’s SLE was designed as a mid-size SUV, while the new Elevation is a bigger and bolder version. Additional features include 18″ aluminum wheels and a Smart Sense Liftgate with presence recognition. Since the powertrain performance is the same for all Acadia models, the Elevation shares the strong off-road capabilities as its upper trim levels.
Drivers favor the GMC Acadia Elevation because it brings a truck-like driving experience into an SUV at the most affordable price in the 2024 generation trims.
2024 GMC Acadia Elevation Premium
The 2024 GMC Acadia Elevation Premium has a starting MSRP of $43,000. It only has seven-passenger seating available compared to the standard Elevation trim’s eight-configuration option. However, it has considerable upgrades, including bigger 20″ aluminum wheels and second-row flat-folding captain chairs with Smart Slide.
For a mid-size SUV, it has off-road capabilities, including LED fog lamps, AWD, and the same powertrain performance specs as its upper trim levels-making it a popular choice for drivers who want luxury amenities at a lower cost.
The Acadia Elevation Premium trim is a go-to option for many drivers because it has the same powertrain specs and offers almost the same amount of tech as upper trim levels. This includes AWD and an optional 15″ screen upgrade for more camera views. Compared to the 2023 SLT, the 2024 Premium has a more powerful engine, standard AWD, and eight-speed automatic transmission- which was previously nine with optional AWD.
2024 GMC Acadia AT4
The upcoming 2024 GMC Acadia AT4 is the ideal off-road SUV with an estimated $39,000 starting MSRP. The AWD systems come standard in all AT4s with 18″ aluminum all-terrain tires.
What sets the new AT4 apart is its active torque control with off-road-tuned suspension for low-speed trail driving and traction on rugged terrains. It also has terrain drive mode, hill descent control, and a twin-clutch rear differential for stronger off-road navigation.
New changes to the AT4 trim from the 2023 model year include a one-inch higher ground clearance, a taller ride, and a wider track. Its exterior will feature a truck-like front fascia, red recovery front tow hooks, and protective front and underbody skid plates. It also has exterior and interior colors only available in this trim level. Its exclusive design includes a dark-accented exterior, Forest Storm color interior, Mahogany stitching, and chrome-metallic trim.
The GMC Acadia AT4 is a favored trim level because of its athleticism, practical space, and advanced technology for rugged outdoor adventures.
2024 GMC Acadia Denali
The 2024 GMC Acadia Denali trim brings luxury to SUVs. With an estimated $52,000 starting MSRP, the 2024 model has new upscale features since the 2023 generation. It has a satin grille instead of chrome and offers a 22″ aluminum wheels option with a Pearl Nickel finish and Dark pockets from its standard 20″.
The Acadia Denali brings a luxe cabin feel with premium leather upholstery seating, laser-etched natural wood trim, and Galvano chrome accents.
Additional Denali upgrades include:
- Heated and ventilated front and second-row seats
- One-touch folding second-row and foldable third-row bench seats
- Over 15 active safety and driver-assistance technologies (only 15 available in other trims)
- Rainsense front wipers with heated bottom windshields
Features that remained the same from last year’s models include its 12-speaker Bose stereo system with active noise canceling but with a 16-speaker option available.
The 2024 Denali is a popular trim option because it brings bold premium finishes. Combining its turbo 2.5L engine and exclusive exterior features like ambient lighting, drivers can enjoy refined amenities and off-road travels with this luxurious mid-size SUV.
Exterior Colors & Dimensions
All exterior color options haven’t been released yet. The only colors announced are the Elevation exclusive Black Edition, the AT4 ‘s dark accents with red tow hooks, and Denali Galvano Silver. However, current GMC images show models with light gray and blue hues.
Exterior Colors & Design
Based on the 2023 Acadia colors, we predict some of the following shades to continue:
- Summit White
- Light Stone Metallic
- Ebony Twilight Metallic
- Ultra-Blue Metallic
- Sterling Metallic
- Volcanic Red Tintcoat
- White Frost Tintcoat
Another updated exterior design is its new D-pillar window framing for a single large glass design-formerly a C-pillar frame from the 2023 generation. The 2024 Acadia will also feature a taller front fascia and hooked LED lights. Aluminum tires are standard across all trims with varying sizes to support their bulkier exterior shape.
Exterior Dimensions
The Acadia AT4 is the only trim with exterior dimensions announced at 203.9″ L x 79.2″ W x 71.9″ H with a 120.9″ wheelbase.
However, based on last year’s dimensions, GMC announced the 2024 editions will be 10.6″ longer, 4.2″ wider, 3.2″ taller, and 8.4″ longer wheelbase compared to the 2023 Acadia SLE.
The 2023 Acadia’s exterior dimensions were: 193″ L x 75″ W x 67″ H.
Based on these specs, we estimate the dimensions to be: 203 L x 79″ W x 70″ H with a 129″ wheelbase – which isn’t far from the 2024 Acadia AT4.
Interior Seating & Cargo Space
The most noticeable upgrade with the 2024 GMC Acadia is the interior design. As the biggest Acadia yet, it has 80% more space behind the third row and 36% more space with the back seats folded.
Interior Design
Upcoming models have a larger interior and additional front row legroom. Its cargo space expanded with more cubby storage behind the third row and underneath it. The interior colors currently revealed are Forest Storm with mahogany stitching and silver accents. 2024 GMC Acadia configurations will have a seven or eight-seat passenger option on select trims.
Interior Technology
The 2024 Acadia offers new driver assistance safety features that come standard in all trims. From adaptive cruise control to Super Cruise™ and reverse automatic braking, the upcoming models have significant safety tech upgrades.
Additional advanced tech features include:
- Android Automotive-based infotainment system with built-in Google Automotive Services
- Smartphone projection support with Apple Carplay
- Physical climate control switches for often-used functions
Engine Options & Capability
There’s only one 2024 GMC Acadia engine compared to last year’s two options. However, it’s more powerful to move its big body easier and faster than the previous generation.
The 2023 Acadia featured a 2.0L four-cylinder with 228hp and 258lbs of torque, or a 3.6L V6 engine with 310hp and 258lb.-ft of torque. The new 2024 GMC Acadia offers a more powerful 2.5L four-cylinder engine with 328hp and 326 lb.-ft of torque.
MPG Ratings
Since Acadia has standard powertrains with AWD on all models, we expect the fuel economy ratings to remain the same.
While the 2024 GMC Acadia MPG ratings aren’t available yet, we predict it will range around the 2023 V-6 model engine: 21 total mpg, 19 city, and 26 highway, with performance specs going from 0mph to 60mph in 6.1 seconds.
Towing Capacity & Payload Rating
The 2024 Acadia has a higher towing capacity than last year’s models. According to GMC, the 2023 versions had a maximum towing capacity of 4,000 lbs., while the upcoming models can tow up to 5,000 lbs.
Additional towing features include red front tow hooks that can trailer campers under 25ft. Combined with its turbocharged 2.5L engine and robust powertrain performance, the 2024 Acadia offers similar pickup truck towing strength in an SUV. Payload ratings aren’t available yet for 2024. It’s likely to increase above 1,856 lbs from 2023 models since the new generations are bigger and stronger.
2024 GMC Acadia Reviews: Is it a Good SUV to Buy?
The 2024 GMC Acadia reviews are raving all around from trusted automotive resources. According to Kelly Blue Book (KBB), the most significant praise for the new year models is its interior upgrades. They complement the well-designed cabin integration since most modern vehicles have dashboards that look like an “iPad is glued to them.”
KBB also shares positive reviews of its large 15″ portrait-mounted central touchscreen for its user-friendly experience. Drivers can easily adjust climate control settings without scrolling through many page menus. In addition, the display screen has a cowl for shade to reduce glare since it doesn’t use traditional gauges.
Car and Driver boast about the 2024 Acadia’s interior premium quality materials that were previously plastic. In addition to aesthetics, Car and Driver acknowledged GMC’s improved technology, like the “enormous” 11″ digital gauge cluster available in every trim and greatly expanded cargo space.
The 2024 GMC Acadia is a reliable purchase decision because it’s larger than ever before, includes new safety automation, and competes well in the three-row midsize SUV market for its off-road capabilities.
Not to mention, it’s designed for fun outdoor recreation with its family-friendly proportions, increased storage, engine power, and towing capacity in any terrain.
Safety Ratings & Technology
The 2024 GMC Acadia features a minimum of 15 active safety and Super Cruise™ hands-free driver-assistance technologies. The Denali trim offers over 15 options.
Advanced tech safety features for the upcoming models include:
- Automatic braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection
- Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Adaptive cruise control
- Up to nine exterior camera views on the sides, overhead, and rear mirror
- HD surround vision with smart technology
NHTSA safety ratings aren’t available yet for 2024 GMC Acadia. Based on NHTSA 2023 Acadia ratings, we speculate the 5/5 overall safety ratings to remain the same since Super Cruise™ is the first safety system of this caliber to be offered by any gas-powered vehicle maker.
